Australian Bushfires: Useful Resources & Support

Acacia EAP shares these useful resources to assist anyone affected by recent bushfire.

Just like you, the Acacia team has been deeply concerned about the devastating impact that the bushfires are having on our communities, vulnerable wildlife and fragile environment. During these times we are strongly committed to providing much-needed support to anyone who may be experiencing distress as a result of the recent devastation.

We understand that right now affected families are in fight or flight crisis mode and may not have the capacity to engage in counselling sessions just yet. In light of this, we wanted to provide you with some immediate and useful reading material that has been created by the Australian Psychological Society which can be passed onto your employees so they can share this with family and friends.

They have created 5 information sheets on “Useful Skills For Disaster Recovery” discussing general psychological strategies to cope following a disaster.

Even for those not directly affected by this disaster, news of destruction and loss of life can make us feel overwhelmed and helpless. It is important in this world of 24-hour news to acknowledge that constant exposure to traumatic news can have a negative impact on our mental health. We would also like to share this resource created by ABC News which discusses the affect this can have on people, especially children, and provides some strategies for coping.
This is also a reminder that our call centre staff are available 24/7 for all employees to arrange support. The Acacia team can be reached by calling 1300 364 273 or via the use of our LiveChat function which is accessible via our website www.acaciaconnection.com (during business hours). We are here to support you and your loved ones and our heart goes out to all of those who are affected. Kind Regards Acacia EAP Team
